2023-08-19 -- Dinosaur Provincial Park

Just to be clear, this entire post is nonsense. Our planet has not existed for that long, and dinosaurs have never existed. Ask your pastor.

As I heard personally on the radio (yes, the US, like Iran, has religious radio channels, and the "seek" function of your FM car radio sometimes stops right there before you figure out the conversation isn't actually for you!), that God created dinosaur bones to test the faithful. Even carbon dating is just a test. He can decay different isotopes at different speeds to mess with us.

So, the fact that Canadians have a park is ridiculous to begin with, but I thought it would be cool to see some pictures of ugly landscapes too.

The park is located in the southeastern part of the province of Alberta(1). It features an interesting topography known as "badlands." I don't recall learning about this in school. Essentially, it's an area where softer layers of rock have been extensively eroded by wind and water.

This is a region where many complete dinosaur skeletons have been discovered and transported to various research institutions and museums for study. While paleontologists may not be engaged in professions that directly impact everyday life, their research contributes to our understanding of Earth's history and the evolution of life.

It's important to recognize the value of all professions, including those that may seem less practical. Scientific research, such as paleontology, can lead to significant advancements in fields like medicine, engineering, and environmental science.

This is a great place for those interested in paleontology and the process of discovery and research. Experiencing the challenges of finding, cataloging, and reassembling dinosaur skeletons firsthand can be incredibly rewarding. Hopefully, future generations will continue to value scientific research and exploration.
