What do you see? Over 4,000 airplanes! Yes, that's right. This is the final resting place for many retired U.S. Air Force (and sometimes other military) aircraft, awaiting their eventual dismantling for spare parts.
The southwestern section of the base holds a special significance. It has been frequently used as a backdrop for powerful nations and international organizations to showcase their military might.
There was a time when foreign countries, including Russia, would frequently fly over the base to monitor the dismantling of strategic bombers. However, since the U.S. began withdrawing from various international treaties in 2016, Russia has also taken similar steps. This has created a situation where both countries can engage in less transparent military activities, potentially undermining global stability. While the U.S. may be slower to react, it eventually adapts and responds to challenges.
The U.S. has recently rejoined several international organizations, including UNICEF. We can only hope that this administration will continue to restore normalcy and international cooperation.
Hope Christian right-wing white supremacist nut jobs like the house representative Marjorie Taylor Greene(2) of Georgia or the house representative Lauren Boebert(3) of Colorado, do not turn this country into another Iran or North Korea. MTG a devotee to Trump cult, keeps demanding the US leave NATO.
Each section of the storage facility is dedicated to a specific type of aircraft. Retired aircraft from various air bases are stored in their respective sections. Many components can be reused in existing aircraft or sold to other countries. However, the F-14 Tomcat is an exception. As it was exclusively used by the U.S. and Iran, and due to sanctions on Iran, no parts can be transferred. To ensure that no parts fall into the wrong hands, F-14s are dismantled and shredded into pieces no larger than 2 inches.
