I stumbled upon an article highlighting the top ethnic restaurants in San Diego and realized, to my surprise, that I'd never been to this particular Persian establishment. The journey there was a bit of an adventure, navigating the one-way streets and the challenges of finding parking in the heart of downtown.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a gracious host who exuded warmth and professionalism. The restaurant itself was a delightful surprise, a sleek and modern space that didn't quite fit the traditional image of a Persian eatery.
As we waited for our appetizers and drinks, I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment after reading the mixed reviews online. It seemed odd that a restaurant in a city renowned for its diverse culinary scene would have such a low rating.
The main course was equally impressive. The kebabs were generous in size, juicy, and tender, without any unpleasant off-flavors. The Albaloo Polo was a revelation, a true testament to the chef's skill. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the tart cherries added a burst of flavor. It was clear that no shortcuts had been taken in the preparation of this dish.
We had to box up half of our meal to take home, sadly forgoing the tempting dessert options like Makhloot and Faloodeh. We'll have to save those for our next visit.
While the restaurant is located in a prime downtown location, the high prices are justified by the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. After all, convenience and ambiance come at a cost.
The leftovers were a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality. Even the next day, the flavors were still vibrant and the textures remained intact.
The positive reviews I read afterward reinforced my belief that this restaurant was a hidden gem. While the price point may be higher than average, the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the impeccable service justify the cost.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit, eager to indulge in more authentic Persian cuisine.
