Sometimes, when we seek change, we feel the need to travel far and wide. We plan, we dream, and we go. Yet, upon returning home, we often need a vacation to recover from our vacation.
My travels are no exception. After each trip, I find myself planning the next, even if it's to a place I've visited countless times. My wife often wonders why I insist on routing my trips through Paris, even for a brief overnight layover. The truth is, I'm drawn to the city's pastries and cuisine. I know I won't have another chance to indulge in them for a while, so I make the most of the opportunity. I even prefer flying Air France for the in-flight dining experience, earning the airline its nickname, "The France in the Sky."
I've realized that there are many hidden gems in my own city that foreign visitors might overlook. One such place is the Cedros Avenue art and design district(1). Today, I took on the role of a tourist in my own city, fueled by a delicious French lunch. We explored a Sunday market, had lunch, and wandered the streets. While I wish we had better public transportation options, like in Europe, I had to resort to driving. Despite the driving, I feel refreshed and relaxed, back home, and ready to share some photos of my local adventure. Sometimes, a simple staycation is all we need to recharge.
